The Lowdown on High Blood Sugar by Jerry Ryan, Ph.d

by Jerry Ryan, Ph.D.

Diabetes. High blood sugar. Isn't that an 'old people' disease? Doesn't that only cause problems for your grandparents or other elderly relatives and friends? Is that the disease where you have to give yourself shots every day? That's the disease that you get from eating too much sugar, right? Isn't it true that only fat people get that illness?

Before we go much further, let's go over some basics about diabetes. First, about 5.5 million Americans are currently being treated for diabetes. Studies imply that 5 million more Americans have undetected diabetes and another 20 million have an impaired glucose tolerance that may lead to diabetes. That's a significant amount of people. The National Institutes of Health state that millions of people lose their vision each year due to undetected diabetes. Most important to note is that the third leading cause of death in the United States is the complications of diabetes.

There are two different forms of diabetes and it's not the Type I and Type II that you always hear about. The first form is called Diabetes Insipidus. This kind of diabetes is very rare and has two causes. There may be a low level of a hormone called vasopressin or the kidneys cannot effectively respond to the vasopressin. The key symptoms of this metabolic malfunction are an extreme thirst and high urine output.

The more common form of diabetes is called Diabetes Mellitus. It is the result of a problem with the pancreas and its production of insulin. The body's blood sugar level is dependent on the proper amounts of insulin produced to breakdown the glucose (sugar) in our diet. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease of carbohydrate metabolism. Genetics certainly plays a part in developing diabetes but a diet of highly processed, low-fiber foods has been seen as a major contributor in most cases. This type of diet leads to obesity resulting in overweight individuals having a higher risk of diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus is the Type I and Type II diabetes that you've heard about. Type I, known as insulin-dependent or juvenile diabetes. This form of diabetes involves the destruction of the beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. It is most common in children.

Individuals with Type I diabetes show the following symptoms:

• Irritability

• Frequent urination

• Abnormal thirst

• Nausea/Vomiting

• Weight loss

• Fatigue

• Weakness

• Unusual hunger

• Frequent bedwetting (in children)

Type I diabetics are also susceptible to episodes of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Either of these conditions can cause serious medical problems.

Hyperglycemia can sneak up slowly over a period of hours or days and it is most common during an illness. A chief warning sign is the inability to keep down fluids. Possible complications include stroke, coma, blindness, kidney failure, and nerve damage. Hypoglycemia, on the other hand, comes on rapidly and can be caused by skipping meals or exercising too much. The signs of hypoglycemia include dizziness, hunger, confusion, sweating, and tingling lips. Complications can be double vision, trembling, disorientation, and coma.

Type II diabetes is most likely to happen in individuals with a family history of diabetes. This form of diabetes is slightly different. The pancreas produces insulin but it doesn't work properly. As a result, the blood sugar level remains high because the glucose cannot get into the body's cells as quickly as it should.

Folks with Type II diabetes exhibit the following symptoms:

• Blurred vision

• Itching

• Unusual thirst

• Fatigue

• Slow wound healing

• Numbness in hands and feet

• Skin infections

• Lingering flu symptoms

• Loss of hair on legs

• Increased facial hair

• Small, yellow bumps on the body

A common first indicator of diabetes in men is a condition known as balanoposthitis. This condition is an inflammation of the penis and foreskin and usually accompanies frequent urination.

There is a wide range of natural health options that are available to diabetics. Maintaining a proper diet and participating in an exercise program are two of the most important ways to control diabetes. Your physician and dietician will be most helpful in developing a food plan that will be best for you. A rule of thumb for a diabetic diet is to eat foods that contain complex carbohydrates, low fat, and high fiber. That means plenty of fruits and vegetables, including juices. The complex carbs enter the system more slowly, the fiber helps slow the blood sugar spikes, and the low fat keeps the fat levels in your bloodstream down. Avoid the simple sugars and the saturated fats.

Exercise is of equal importance since obesity is a major contributing factor in Type II diabetes. Your physician and therapists can help you develop a weight reduction program to fit your needs.

In addition to diet and exercise, there are nutritional supplements that have been found helpful for diabetes. These supplements are:

Chromium picolinate – enhances the effect of insulin resulting in lower blood sugar levels

L-Glutamine – reduces sugar cravings

Biotin – assists in glucose metabolism

Manganese – important for repair of the pancreas

Do not take any supplements that contain cysteine, an amino acid. It can cause problems with the ability of the cells to absorb insulin properly.

Vitamins B, C, and E are also helpful as antioxidants. They work toward the prevention of secondary complications of diabetes such a vision and vascular problems. However, large doses of Vitamin C or B1 should be avoided because they may inactivate insulin.

Several herbs are also advocated for diabetes. These herbs are cedar berries, huckleberry, ginseng, bilberry, dandelion root, buchu, and uva ursi. Each herb has a specific role in maintaining proper blood sugar levels.

Because diabetes causes problems with the circulatory system, it is vital to avoid tobacco in any form. Tobacco constricts the blood vessels and slows the circulation. Tobacco use provides less oxygen to the extremities. This lack of oxygen plays a major role in the development of foot ulcers commonly seen in diabetics.

There are many reasons to try to prevent the onset of diabetes. It threatens your overall health and can lead to a wide range of complications. Here are just a few.

Diabetic Retinopathy – This is damage done to the retina and is the leading cause of blindness in the United States.

Diabetic Nephropathy – This is damage done to the kidneys and is the leading cause of death in diabetics.

Diabetic Neuropathy – This is damage done to the nerves and is characterized by numbness, tingling, and pain. It affects the feet, legs, and hands.

It has been said that diabetes is deceptive, insidious, and inconvenient. If you feel that you are experiencing signs of diabetes, check with your primary care provider.

High Protein Diet Plan – Available Online

1/29/10 | 0 comments »

by Roberto Luongo

The unsurpassed high protein diet plan, the best one online is the Atkins diet. To begin with, the foremost slice of the Atkins Diet Plan is to be followed for two weeks. It is a diet plan that consists of only 20 grams of carbohydrates, initially. This high protein diet plan is a combination of a variety of protein foods ranging from chicken to butter and so on.

The later part is the systematic weight loss period. At this juncture, the person is allowed to consume lesser amounts of carbohydrates, to say, five grams, which eventually helps in weight loss. High protein diet plan enhances health rather than mere weight loss. They assure a weight loss up to three pounds in the first stages.

Slowly, the ingestion of carbohydrates is increased gradually. The result is a faster and quick weight loss. You will be happy to feel a healthy outlook, which cannot be attained by another diet plans. Now, Atkins diet is something for lifelong and not a short term diet. There is nothing to worry about as the food plan can be outlined to each person's interest.

Another highlighting aspect about Atkins diet is that it has all the essential ingredients that are required for the body during a diet plan. You never look tired nor do you feel fatigued, in short, it's a full-fledged diet plan. Just after a single month after Atkins diet the normal insulin and cholesterol levels can be noticed.

While on a high protein diet plan, you will never have the desire for more food. The reason for this is the feeling of fullness due to the intake of extra protein than in normal.

A major gain of high protein diet plans like Atkins is that, the person will never be bored or irritated with the same food stuffs. Substituting food with the same protein content is permitted. There are some who even try Soya foods and milks in Atkins diet. This gives more strength to the muscles and less drawbacks.

The Atkins diet is widely considered as the best high protein diet plan these days and many are willingly tracking it.

The Four Phases Of A Good Low Carb Diet

1/28/10 | 0 comments »

by Patricia Zelkovsky

A diet that consists of low carb foods is at times an effective and healthy way to keep in shape and to be healthy inside and out.

A low carb diet basically focuses on consuming foods that are unprocessed and rich in nutrients.

This kind of diet contains various levels with four major parts.

One phase involves the induction phase, the second phase deals with weight loss that is ongoing, the third phase is about pre-maintenance and the fourth or last phase deals with maintenance.

The low carb induction diet phase

In this area, any intake of carbohydrates is limited to only twenty grams each day. Eating any kind of fruits, grains, bread, vegetables that are starchy or any other dairy products (except cream, butter or cheese) should be avoided.

In taking in carbohydrates, about 3 salad cups of vegetables or 2 salad cups plus a third of vegetables that are cooked, as long as the composition of these contains ten percent less of carbs, should be taken in.

Other carbs that are permitted to be eaten are seeds, nuts and olives. Be aware that these foods must still contain twenty grams or less of carbs to be considered.

Vegetables to be chosen must contain ten percent carbs. These vegetables are okra, asparagus, eggplant, vegetable salad and broccoli.

Usually vegetables to be chosen should be the non-starchy kind. There are available carbo counters which you need to utilize in order to know the choices available for you to eat.

In this level, meat, fowl, fish, shellfish and eggs are permitted to be eaten. What is not permitted are luncheon meats that contain nitrates or sugar. Also, any products that do not contain one hundred percent meat should be avoided.

Cheese are not permitted to be eaten, except diet cheese, whey cheese and cheese spreads, unless of course you are allergic to any milk products.

Caffeine should not be taken in. However if you are addicted to caffeine, you could take it in but in limited amounts.

Weight loss ongoing low carb diet phase

In this phase, you should first find out the critical level of carbohydrates you need to lose when you discover your level of ongoing weight loss or OWL.

The number culled from this phase is the carbohydrate level that tallies with your own unique capacity to metabolize in order to continually take off any excessive pounds.

This carbohydrate intake count should be continually observed. A person with a metabolic resistance that is average, the normal intake should be anywhere between fifteen to forty grams each day.

Vegetables, nuts and seeds are low carb foods that should be eaten.

As much as possible, learning new recipes is needed in order to make food-eating interesting and exciting. It is perfectly okay to learn and experiment with new fruits or vegetables.

Berries are highly recommended as these contain a low amount of carbs. Meanwhile, other fruits are restricted since they are high in sugar.

Weight loss is possible and visible the moment you slowly make your diet liberalized. If there are vitamins and nutrients you are taking in as designed by the program, continue taking them.

Pre maintenance low carb diet phase

When this phase is reached, ketosis production vanishes. This is where deviations in the diet is allowed, as long as the basic diet is maintained.

The intake of carbs is okay, just make sure that those few last pounds go away. Also, the deviation must be made slowly. At least a deviation or two each week is fine. Examples of a deviation is fruits, higher starch vegetables or a small baked potato.

Maintenance low carb diet phase

In this phase, the critical level for maintaining carbohydrates is known. This amount basically shows the amount of carbs you could eat which would not allow you to gain an ounce of weight.

Be aware that weight fluctuations are okay as long as these fluctuations are small. However, once you discover that you are five pounds above your own ideal weight, cutting back time is necessary.

Always remember that a low carb diet restricts your intake of carbs. An average person with a metabolism that is also average must be able to maintain anywhere between forty to sixty grams of carbs each day.

All in all, a low carb diet is possible for those who are sincere in their efforts to lose weight and to stay healthy by eating healthy.

The Truth About High Protein And Low Carb Diet

by Rando Meresmaa

There are so many different diets available. It is very hard for the average person to choose the right one because the proponents of all of these diets say that their diets are the best. No fat diets, high fat diets, high carbohydrate low fat diet, very low carbohydrate high protein and high fat diet. High protein and low carbohydrate diets like The Atkins diet is very popular but is it really the best diet from the bunch?

The basic assumption of the very low carbohydrate approach is that carbohydrates cause fat storage because they increase insulin production. Insulin is suppose to be the main enemy that has to be avoided. So if you eat less carbs then you would control insulin and lose fat.

But in reality carbohydrates are not fattening and too many people take this diet to extremes and do not eat any carbohydrates at all. Atkins starts people at 20 grams of daily carbohydrate, the Eades of Protein Power say 30 grams, Diana Schwarzbein of The Schwarzbein Principle says at least 60, the Zone says 100 to 150, and Sugar Busters would probably be around 140 to 200 grams. All of these are considerably under standard nutritional advice, which is generally around 250 to 300 grams of carbohydrate daily. Eating more calories than your body can use at one time is fattening not certain food group by itself.

Some people lose weight more quickly on a very low carbohydrate diet, but that’s not the same thing as saying carbohydrates are fattening. Lox carbohydrates are also used by bodybuilders before competitions. But the main problem with very low carbohydrate diets is that is impossible to stay on these kind of diets for long periods.

Most people do not need extreme methods like eating only 20-30 grams of carbs a day. Most people will lose fat simply by adding a regular exercise routine to their schedule and eating better foods.

Acid and Alkaline Foods and the Ph Diet

1/26/10 | 0 comments »

by Ronald W. Firquain

There is a saying that goes, ” we are what we eat. ” In fact, if people take a deeper look at the food being consumed, only then will the person realize that a lot of it are unhealthy which is why most people are obese.

The reason is because the most of these are acidic or have a high concentration of alkaline in it. Some examples of acidic foods are peanuts, meat, sugar, beans and legumes. Those that contain alkaline are certain vegetables, fruits and juices.

The types of beverages available also has high concentrations of acid. Coke and beer for example has a pH2 while coffee that has caffeine is a pH 4.

This is not harmful in small amounts but when someone eats for example a slab of steak together with a can or two of beer, then there is bound to be a problem in the future. This is because micro form and pathogens start to develop and this will spread to different areas of the body.

The body defense mechanisms will do its best to regulate the pH levels. However, it has limitations and when it can not, the person may suffer a stroke or other sicknesses that could permanently paralyze the individual or be fatal.

One way the body does this is by using calcium. Everyone knows this is good for the bones and lack of it especially in women may lead to osteoporosis.

Children who drink milk often can prevent this from happening but once the person reaches adulthood, things are different. This is because milk also has a high acid content so this can be regulated by substituting this with skim or Soy milk instead.

The example just shown has happened to many people. This is the reason scientists and doctors recommend those who are overweight to exercise and make some lifestyle changes like going on a pH diet.

One way is by changing the way the food is cooked. Instead of frying it, a healthier way is by steaming it. The person may even reduce red meat and change this with fish. A dietitian will be helpful in planning a menu and it would not hurt to read up and experiment on new recipes.

As for drinks, the person should stay away from coffee or dark colas. This is because the regular and the diet versions still contains elements of phosphoric acid. A healthier alternative will be freshly squeezed juice, tea or water.

The person does not have to wait until something should happen and one is off to the clinic or the hospital. This is the reason that people are encourage to visit the doctor at least once a year to check if everything is normal.

At home, the individual can buy pH strips that can check if one is acidic. This is done through a urine test and if this is between 6.75 and 7.25, then the body is maintaining the right pH level.

Should this be higher or lower, then the person is potential health risk. There is another version that can tell if this is normal or not based on color and the results will determine whether or not it is time to make some changes.

There are other things to watch out for to ensure healthy living and the first step is by watching what is being eaten because too much acid or alkaline in foods can be dangerous to one’s health.

Balancing your pH with The Alkaline Diet/ pH diet

1/25/10 | 0 comments »

by Tatiana Timoshkina

What is the PH BALANCE ?

Your body…like everything else in life, needs balance. Our Life requires combination of two opposing forces coming together in BALANCE.Night and day, light and dark, hot and cold, positive and negative, acid and alkaline.

Everything in life…MUST have a properly pH balanced.Your body is very process oriented…it's like an assembly line. If something's missing, the given task goes uncompleted. And that's not good. Living healthy life is a PROCESS…not an event. There's no magic solution in life but there are a lot of great resources you can learn on.

Everything in life has  pH balanced environment in the inside and the outside of it in order to live. One of the most important factors that impacts environment is pH… the balance between acid elements and alkaline elements.Your body is no different.

The way where you want your body to be is in the balance between acid and alkaline.

You need both to live but they must exist in balance. Dr. Robert Young (creator of pH miracle diet) stresses that a body that is ravaged by excess acid will be more prone to serious health problems. If your body becomes acidic, problems begin. If it becomes chronically acidic, you now have the type of environment that breeds a whole host of health problems.

If we fail to keep our systems in balance, and we become acid based, our bone formation will be reduced, calcium will be lost in our urine (leading to kidney stone formation), proteins will breakdown causing our muscles to waste away, our systems will be unable to repair cells, tissues and organs fully, our systems will age at an accelerated pace, more free radicals will be produced, we will be subject to increased fluid retention, and so forth.

If you want to experience vibrant life, you need to create a vibrant environment on the inside of your body with the right pH. Inner balance…pH balance…will create the outer balance you desire. The optimal pH for your blood and fluids that make up over 70% of your body weight is roughly 7.37. That means a pH that's slightly alkaline.

First step you have to know what is the pH of your body.  Test Your pH.You can go to your local health store and buy some ph test strips. Simply test the ph of your urine in the morning, and you'll know where you stand.

First of all, understand that if you are really acidic right now, you should probably approach the solution in an unbalanced manner…because it’s something you should begin changing right away. Also, if you’ve been living in an unbalanced manner for a while – in the acidic ditch – live in the alkaline ditch for a bit until you get in balance.

Our bodies have 3 methods of getting rid of unwanted “poisons”.

First, our lungs supply our bodies with much needed oxygen. Exercise helps cleanse our system, because it requires lots of heavy breathing, which gives us a double dose of oxygen Second, our kidneys filter unwanted waste products which we don’t need. Drink lots of pure, and hopefully ionized or ozone rich water, which will keep our kidneys healthy, as well as supply needed oxygen to our systems.

Third, our skin filters out other things, through our perspiration (which is also produced through exercise).

The best way to build your pH is the way how you eat. The Alkaline Diet/ pH diet is built on certain foods contribute to acidification of your body, and some help to alkalize your body. Acid and  alkaline foods in the pH miracle diet is the main concept of diet. The purpose of the pH miracle diet is to create a permanent way of living for you stressing the idea of balance. The pH miracle diet is a revolutionary new way to look at how you eat.Alkaline/acidity pH balance diet shows a way how a simple change in diet to restore your acid-alkaline balance can result in vast improvements in health. How to determine your acid levels and how to design a diet best suited for your particular health needs.

Many people who start out don't take enough time to look for complete listings of the pH levels of the foods they eat. There are many lists available online and in various books that offer food lists that break the groups down into acids and alkalis. Making sure to choose a comprehensive list will guarantee whole nutrition. A list that includes supplements, herbs, spices, and condiments is the most desirable. You want the most complete list possible including those foods which are neutral. Paying attention to how many foods are being ingested from the acid and alkali sides is a great way to ensure proper balance in the diet.

The Alkaline Diet/PH miracle diet is the way of eating which can totally change your life. It is a revelation, a way of looking at the world in a new light. The pH Miracle Diet will bring you increased quality and quantity of life. Balancing your pH using PH Miracle Diet you will realize how much better you feel and how far the benefits go. Follow all principles of the Alkaline Diet/PH miracle diet because there is only place in a world where we enjoy life it is our healthy body.

What You Should Know About Low Carb Diets

1/24/10 | 0 comments »

by JessieMcfarland

Low carb diets often seen in Atkins and Zone diets have been a popular choice among most weight watchers. There are explanations behind the low carb diets and why they have a role to play in weight loss.

The Insulin Factor

It all boils down to the simple theory that high carbohydrate foods when taken in excess cause you to gain weight. The reason is simple. High-carb foods when taken will cause your blood sugar to rise quickly. The body secrets a hormone called insulin which carries the extra sugar to the liver and muscles to be stored and any excess sugar are converted to fat. If the amount of carbohydrates intake is immediately converted to sugar, there is no problem with our blood sugar level as it is in a balance mode. On the other hand, if there is an over consumption of carbohydrates food, insulin is required to work harder and more will be produced and in time to come, the insulin becomes less responsive. This leads to diabetes and other health issues.

The Fat and Protein Factor

If we consume a low carbohydrate diet, the available carbs are easily used up so the body will turn to fat and even protein for the energy it needs when the carbs sources run out. This is the basis behind the Atkins diet that promotes a low carb diet but high protein and fat component. We are aware that a diet that is rich in protein has been commonly linked to bad cholesterols and heart related complications. However, there were interesting studies to show that low carbohydrate diets are more effective than low- fat diets though the calories count are the same.

Choose Complex Carbs

Let us review the types of carbohydrates that are available. We have the simple carbs such as sweets, fizzy drinks and white bread that get digested quickly and converted to energy for use in the body. Unlike simple carbs, the digestion and conversion of complex carbs such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables are slower and you don’t get that sugar spike followed by a sugar crash. Therefore it makes sense that unrefined carbs are naturally the best choices due to its high fiber content, its low calorie along with the many antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. In fact, the very low calorie content of these fruits and vegetables is enough to result in negative calorie expenditure for the body. Thus you will lose weight no doubt about it.

Low Calorie or Low Carbs

For weight watchers, if you think that all low carb fad diet is good, you better rethink. Low carb diet is good enough if you take a conscious effort to include whole natural foods such as fruits and organic vegetables in your diet instead of following a particular low carb fad diet blindly. For example, some low carb diet recommends an extreme low percentage of carbs to calories, for example 20 per cent of the total calories consumed. Even then the carbohydrates recommended should come strictly from non-starchy vegetables. In addition, there are some low carb diets that tell you to continue eating pasta, ice-cream and cookies due to their low calorie content but these are processed foods. There are concerns that these fad diets, if followed long-term, may lead to kidney, and other health complications.

Consuming a balanced and healthy mix of food combined with regular exercise is still the most effective and safe method to lose weight permanently. The results may be slow but you can still lose weight with discipline and determination.

Weight Management: a High Protein Diet

by Lauren B. Wallace

Countless studies have shown that a diet rich in protein can help us lose weight or maintain our current dress size. This is mostly due to the fact that when we consume more protein we in return consume fewer carbohydrates. In this article I will discuss the benefits of a protein rich diet and the type of foods you should be consuming in order to attain weight loss results.

The reason why protein is so beneficial when quick weight loss is concerned is due to the fact that it increases our metabolism and curbs our appetite. Protein works similar to the appetite suppressant known as hoodia, it curbs our appetite by helping us feel full longer. Furthermore, when we eat more protein, we in return eat fewer carbohydrates. When our bodies are deprived of carbohydrates, we begin to burn our excess fat for fuel. This in return leads to quick and effective weight loss. This particular bodily action is known as Ketosis. So what are some of the foods we should be consuming in order to lose weight or maintain our current weight?

One excellent choice of protein comes from whey protein shakes. This particular shake is very beneficial because it is made up solely of whey. Unlike animal protein, whey protein is easily absorbed and broken down by the body. Furthermore, it is free of saturated fat, trans fat, calories, cholesterol, and sodium. It is one of the healthiest choices out there. Some other sources include: eggs, fish, and lean poultry. It is easy to incorporate these foods into our daily diet. Simply be sure to watch the amount of calories and cholesterol that some of these products contain. You don’t want to load up on unnecessary cholesterol while trying to increase your protein intake. Working out a well balanced and healthy weight loss plan is the key to success.

Proven Weight Loss Diets - What’s Healthy and What’s not

by Alvin Hopkinson

If you are in the market looking for a proven weight loss diets, you will likely come across several that claim their product will reveal the results you desire. The more you look into the different products you might even begin to realize not too much is similar, so how do they work?

Fad diets might work wonders for you, however they are generally not going give you long term results. These diets are designed to show results quickly generally be depriving your body of essential nutrients.

These diets will eventually end up causing you more harm than good. Once your body is allowed to have the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrition it will store it for later use instead of burning it. The causes excessive weight gain in a short period of time.

Fasting diets can be beneficial to the body in moderation. However, it is not health for a person to fast for too many consecutive days. This method triggers the body to into what is often referred to as survival mode.

Survival mode causes the body to store all food for energy later because it does not know when it will be getting the nutrition it needs again. This can lead to more weight being gained than what is going to be lost after the diet has ended and food has been reinstated.

The diets that really work are those that control the calorie intake per day and include a healthy level of exercising. You should incorporate more water into your daily beverage routine and slowly increase the exercise regimen.

To successfully lose weight in a healthy and steady manner you should burn more calories a day than you consume. This will force the body into burning fat to maintain the energy you need to continue the day.

You should also be sure the diet you choose allows you to eat at least 3 meals a day. You should never skip a meal on a diet because this is another trigger for survival mode. Depriving your body of food is not recommended for healthy weight loss, instead try incorporating more healthy foods and less processed foods, lower salt and sugar content.

There are many proven weight loss diets that you will come across, however not all of them are actually healthy or beneficial to your overall health and well being. Many will cause more harm than good.

The pH Miracle Diet - Must-Know Basics!

by Abhishek Agarwal

The latest path breaking invention to strike the world of nutrition and dieting is the pH Miracle Diet. Experts have noted that popular dieting plans seem to vary from time to time. For instance, the 90s marked lo-fat diets, and the last decade has focused on low-carbohydrate diets like Protein Power, South Beach diet, Sugar busters and Atkins. People begin to get frustrated with each new diet and start looking for newer options. The pH miracle has stolen the spotlight currently.

This diet appeals to most people as it completely different from the usual high- protein, low carbohydrate diets that have ruled the last couple of years. The pH diet, also known as the Young Diet, named after its founder Dr. Robert Young, or the alkaline diet, has a unique approach towards the supply of nutrition. Many medical experts, nutritionists and doctors find this diet program as an extremely balanced approach to achieve nutrition that considers the true requirements of the body.

Normally, our bodies have a slightly alkaline pH value. The principle is that as our body functions best at alkaline pH; our diet must be comprised of alkaline foods. The normal diet of an average American contains several acidic foods, including sugar caffeine, animal protein and packaged food. These acidic products disturb the pH level of the human body and thereby cause a myriad of problems. The principles of this diet claim that acidic foods hinder the benefits of alkaline minerals, including potassium, calcium, sodium and magnesium, which make people vulnerable to chronic conditions.

The real essence of the pH diet

Nutrition and health experts have realized that the food which a person consumes as part of his diet has a distinct effect on his overall health pattern. Though the medical community has given special importance to a balanced, nutritional diet which includes fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat items, the pH diet is a step ahead. It clearly indicates that acidic foods deprive the body of its essential minerals. People, who adopt the pH miracle diet, have learnt to avoid intake of food that causes disastrous effects to health.

Most foods that we commonly consume are strictly forbidden in the pH diet. The most surprising of these restrictions is the removal of wheat products. Though the FDA suggests consumption of whole wheat products, the pH diet claims that grains like millet, wheat, rice and oats are harmfully acidic. Alkaline grains such as quinoa, spelt and buckwheat are favoured due to their alkalizing benefits.

Usually, dairy and meat products are banned from the pH miracle Diet. For your protein source, goat milk is allowed. Protein is also available in tofu, nuts, seeds and beans. Almost all vegetables, except mushroom, have a high alkalizing effect. Intake of fruits is limited to grapefruit, lime, lemon and coconuts.

People who have adopted the pH miracle diet claim that there had been tremendous effect on their health well within the first couple of weeks. It is advisable to lower the consumption of pre-processed foods, and increase the intake of vegetables, irrespective of what the diet specifies for the person. As a matter of fact, this has become the point of major criticism of the pH diet. Opponents claim that those who are already consuming fresh food and plenty of water will find no effect from this diet. They ignore the pH balance theory.

Another significant point to be noticed is that there is no scientific proof of the theories involved in pH miracle diet. Several conventional doctors find no benefits arising from this diet. But the principles of this diet are based completely on Chinese medicine, which has been in practice for centuries. These proponents are currently being studied at the John Hopkins’ University and by the United Nations. Critics may have to amend their attitude towards the basis of the diet.

3 Simple Tips For Uncovering Crash Diets That Work

1/19/10 | 0 comments »

by Michael Hutchins

One of the most popular requests I receive from my personal training clients is to help them find crash diets that work. Most of them are aware that care has to be taken when going on any diet, much less a crash diet. Many of my clients have had little or no success with traditional diet programs, so I point them in the direction of crash diets by giving them these 3 tips.

1) Participate In Online Forums

Finding online forums that focus on weight loss is very simple to do. Simply type “forums” and “weight loss”, in to the Google search box. Literally hundreds of online forums will appear on the organic listings pages. Definitely, concentrate your efforts on the organic listings, which appear on the left hand side of the search results. The search results on the right hand side are for paid advertising.

Read the search results listings, and simply start investigating forums that seem interesting to you. When you discover a suitable forum, introduce yourself and mention that you are interested in crash diets that work. You will probably have to start a new thread, which is a new topic for members to post threads on.

2) Rely On “Good Ole” Google Again!

This time, however, you are going to type in either “crash diets that work”, or “crash diets reviews”. Another possibility is to perform a search on “new diets.”

Again, look over the search results on the left hand side. When you find a particular diet plan that seems attractive, make a note of the name of the diet and perform a Google search on that name.

You should get lots of specific feedback on that particular diet!

3) Magazines

Magazine editors realize the popularity of new and exciting weight loss programs and diets. Just go to your nearest magazine rack and glance through the covers of some of the more popular women’s magazines. You should find LOTS of new diet programs and ideas. Remember to discuss the diet with your doctor before you begin.

So, why crash diets that work?

About the Author:

Early this year I was approached by several of my personal training clients who wanted to lose weight. Many of them had made new year’s resolutions, and needed my help keeping them.

They begged me to find diets that produced quick results, as they had failed with most “mainstream” diets.

I began researching every diet program I could find, and even tried a few of them myself!I posted online diet surveys and even did phone interviews with the creators of some popular diets

Finally, I compiled a list of the Top Ten Diets That Work and Crash Diets That Work!

Prevent a Slow Moving Metabolism

1/18/10 | 0 comments »

by Tom Parker

As you get older your metabolic rate generally goes into decline and you require a reduced number of daily calories. If you are affected by a slowing metabolism you need to take preventative measures or you will gain weight. In this article I discuss a number of preventative measures you can take to stop your metabolism declining and some additional measures you can implement to boost your metabolic rate.

As I have stated above there are a number of things that you can avoid to prevent your metabolic rate being reduced further. These include:

1) ALCOHOL:- Alcoholic drinks are full of sugar and calories. Alcohol is also known to cause dehyrdration which has a negative impact on the functioning of your metabolism. An occasional alcoholic drink is OK but binge drinking and/or drinking every day can lead to a reduced metabolism.

2) BIG MEALS:- Larger meals contain more calories than smaller meals. Therefore, there is an increased likelihood that additional calories will be stored as fat. To maximise your metabolism you have to break these large meals down into smaller meals that you eat more frequently.

3) SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE:- If you are not active your metabolic rate will decline. You therefore need to be doing some physical activity each day or every other day. This is not as difficult as you think. You can walk or cycle to work, take up an exercise class, join a sports team and more. Just make sure the activity you choose is fun, can be performed regularly and keeps you active.

4) SKIPPING MEALS:- Missing meals can be just as damaging to your metabolism as eating large meals. You need to be eating smaller meals more regularly to keep your metabolism charged.

5) SUGARY FOODS:- Sugary foods have a low nutritional value, are high in calories and digest easily. This means that less calories are burned in the digestion process and more calories are stored as fat. The occasional sugary treat is OK but your overall diet needs to contain limited levels of sugary foods.

If you make sure that you are following the advice on the list above this will really help you combat the effects of a slowing metabolism. From here you can then take additional measures to increase your metabolic rate to its maximum potential. I have outlined a few of these measures below:

1) INCREASED EXERCISE:- As I have mentioned above remaining active and avoiding a sedentary lifestyle will help to stop your metabolism from slowing down. However, taking your exercise more seriously can help increase your metabolic rate. If you participate in regular cardiovascular exercise and regular weight training exercise, you will be on your way to maximising your metabolism. When performing both forms of exercise always seek to improve and you will notice your metabolism improve accordingly.

2) PLANNED MEALS:- As I have already discussed, missing meals or eating meals that are too big can slow down your metabolism. You therefore need to carefully prepare a daily meal plan which incorporates six smaller meals (instead of the usual three large meals). Eating smaller meals more regularly will reduce the number of excess calories that are being stored and charge up your metbaolism.

3) SMARTER FOOD CHOICES:- I have already mentioned that you should avoid sugar and alcohol. However, these are just two of the many foods that can have a damaging effect on your metabolism. You need to look at your diet as a whole and try to substitute the unhealthy foods for healthier ones. Healthier foods generally have a higher nutritional value and are harder to digest, meaning more calories are burned during the digestion process. This has a positive effect on your metabolic rate.

Combatting a declining metabolism is a two part process. First, you need to take measures to stop your metabolism being subdued any further. Following this, you need to take some measures to improve your metabolic rate. In doing this you can boost your metabolism and raise the amount of calories being burnt.

Fidgeting: The Natural Weight Loss Diet

by Jill Miller

It’s now official. The simple act of fidgeting can mean the difference between lean and obese. It’s the natural weight loss diet.

My friend likes to relate a story from time to time about when he was just a lad. His grandfather called him “Worm”, because he fidgeted so much. And between you and me, it can get rather annoying.

But he had the right idea, even if it wasn’t intentional. He’s 5′8″ tall and weighs around 145 lbs.

To my knowledge, he doesn’t work out, jog, or go to the gym. He fidgets. When we visit, I watch him twist and turn, tap his feet in the air, get up and down from the chair and walk around. It’s enough to drive you crazy, but his slim physique speaks volumes.

I’ve always believed that fidgeting is a result of a fast metabolism, so he naturally burns more calories, producing natural weight loss. But I also believe that fidgeting can be learned. Of course that’s all we need, more people to drive us crazy!

Now there’s a study to confirm what I’ve always believed. A detailed study conducted of mundane bodily movements found that obese people tend to be much less fidgety than lean people and spend at least two hours more each day just sitting still. The extra motion by lean people is enough to burn about 350 extra calories a day, which could add up to 10 to 20 pounds a year.

“There are these absolutely staggering differences between people who are lean and people who are obese,” said James Levine of the Mayo Clinic, who led the research. “The amount of this low-grade activity is so substantial that it could, in and of itself, account for obesity quite easily.”

Here are some things you could try.

* When a commercial come on TV, get up and stretch or better yet, move around. Just avoid the kitchen.

* Wriggle your toes and your fingers whenever you can. This will also tell you how sore they are and if their condition is so bad, just think of the rest of your body.

* Tap your feet in the air. Think of an upbeat song and tap along. This helps get your blood flowing.

* Do things like fetching, turning things off and on by yourself. Often when we come back tired from work, we tend to get others to do simple chores for us. These things are no big deal. They are things that we can very well do for our selves but we don’t.

* When talking on the phone, get up and pace. Just vary your walking area. You don’t want to wear a path in your carpet.

* Try breathing exercises. You might be surprised to know that breathing exercises too can lead to weight loss. If you are doing the breathing exercises properly, you will find that you can exert a lot of pressure on the muscles around the mid section. You can feel a tightening of these muscles each time you breathe in or breathe out. So go ahead and breathe properly, it is good for you.

* Do not slouch in your chair, but try to maintain an erect posture with your tummy tucked in. Slouching is a very bad habit. Not only is it bad for your back but it also gives you a very flabby figure. It is your way of saying yes to a comfortable, weight-gaining pose. Make it a point to always sit as erect as you can. It is also a terrific way to ward off back problems.

Fidgeting isn’t a cure-all for obesity, but if you’re physically unable or just too plain lazy to eat right and workout, it’s a great start.

High Protein Diet to Build Muscle

by Mike Parker

Do you want to build muscle? Well if you do then you must include a high protein diet into your daily food intake to really be able to build muscle. So what diets do bodybuilders use? They use a high protein diet to build muscle.

So the question now is how much protein do I eat and what foods to eat to help me build muscle? Well if you want to know then read on because this article will explain what a diet high in protein is and how much protein you will need, and what foods to eat to efficiently build muscle.

A high protein diet is a diet that is mostly protein, a little bit of carbohydrates and low fat. You see the muscles in the body actually crave protein, and when you eat protein then your body breaks up the protein into amino acids which then help your muscles to grow and when your muscles once were fat and now they are turning into muscle then you are getting rid of the fat. If you want to build muscle and lose fat then this is the right diet for you whether you are a body builder or not.

Basically if you are on this kind of diet then you need to consume a gram of protein per pond of your body weight each day. For example if you weighed 200 pounds then you would need to eat 200 grams of protein a day, no more no less. This will support your muscle growth and give your muscles enough protein to really be able to build muscle.

So what kinds of foods make up a diet of high protein? Well that is a good question besides the obvious answer protein. Well you should eat is lean meats such as fish chicken and turkey, and vegetables and fruits and this is basically all your diet should consist of. Or at least 90% of it should be.

The other 10% can consist of things like protein supplements if you are having problems consuming enough protein everyday, and you can have rice or breads that are whole grain. Stay away from fatty fried meats such as fried chicken and stay away from junk foods these foods will undo what you have already done.

Whether you want to lose weight or build muscle or just lose fat and build muscle this is the diet you need to achieve these results along with exercise of course. Enjoy your high protein diet because this is good for your health as well as your muscles.

Weight Loss Diets: Do They Really Work

1/14/10 | 0 comments »

by John Porter

Are you aware of the concept of calories in and calories out? And in this game of calories the whole world is ready to spend billions just to shape their abs and lose weight in whatever way it is possible. One of the easiest avenues to pick up a weight control measure is go fore a weight loss diet program.

Credibility matters

Already you might have come across a whole range of advertisements over television and websites making tall claims of losing pounds by following the weight loss diet program. But who will judge their credibility? You more often come across a mixed reaction where a few will agree that weight loss diets work superb and the a few will completely defy to the proposal. In between you will come across the group suggesting that the impact varies from man to man and take a safer side.

Which way should you go? The final decision is ultimately yours.

Calorie calculation

There is a very interesting calculation regarding the calorie control. It is never that the calorie intake has to be completely nullified for burning calories. If you have a tendency to put on weight you will have to wipe out more calories than you consume.

The simplest equation fits into the calorie-pound relation. One pound is equivalent to 3500 calories and if your consumption is 1000 calories and you burn up 1500 calories, you will surely put off pounds. But if you consume 1000 calories and give up 1000 calories the chances of weight gain can be blocked. Thirdly if you take in 1000 calories and give out only 700 calories, you can’t resist the process of weight gain.

Diet with exercise

Typical plans and programs on weight loss diet always come in combination with a set of exercises and physical labor. Without this physical part of the organic food, you can never reach to the point of a desired shape you want for your abs.

Dietitians recommend a low fat diet with several breaks and dividing your food habit into parts. If the consumption at a time is low then the boiling up the energy will also be easier.

Aerobics and free hand exercises are must. You can pick up morning and evening walks and a little jogging session whenever you feel convenient. Move out in the fresh air and give an edge to your health by shaking and bending it. The weight loss diet will take care of the rest of your weight control agenda.

Diet and Cancer

1/13/10 | 0 comments »

by Ronald W. Firquain

It has been proven in numerous studies that eating food that is high in acids and alkaline is dangerous to one’s health. This is because when the body is not able to cope with it, the immune system is weakened and makes the person susceptible to various diseases and illnesses.

One example is by buying a ph kit and testing it using one’s saliva or urine. Should this go below or over 6.75 or 7.5, then the individual may suffer from something such as a headache or muscle pain. If certain measures are not taken to alleviate this, before anyone knows it, the doctor will be bringing the sad news that the patient has just been diagnosed with cancer.

Should people only do something about it when it is too late? The answer is no because there are ways to prevent this before the situation gets worse.

One way is by making some changes in the diet. This means having some fruits and vegetables as part of the daily pH diet. Steaks are great especially during a barbecue but this should not be done regularly and substituted with healthier stuff such as fish, bread and pasta.

There are different ways of cooking and steaming seems to be the best since it does not rely on cooking oil and other chemicals. Studies have shown this method keeps the nutritional value of the vegetables. The only downside is that it is sometimes tasteless so the person will add some seasoning to for flavoring.

Those who rely on microwave cooking should stop doing so immediately. This is because it also takes away the nutritional value of the produce just like when it is cooked in a frying pan.

Aside from eating a healthier diet, this should also be followed by drinking the right fluids. Believe it not, water is still the best thing around even if fruit juices, teas and other beverages are available. This is because a large percentage of the human body is made of hydrogen and needs it as fuel in order to function properly.

Diet and cancer studies show that many farmers and people are switching to organic foods. This is because no fertilizer is added in making these products so there are no harmful chemicals and substances present.

Some people claim red wine is good for the body. The person should remember to take this in moderation and then stop drinking beer, colas and coffee that contain phosphoric acid.

The person’s pH levels may also be higher or lower than normal due to stress. This means the individual should learn to relax every so often. It does not mean going on a vacation but simply getting enough hours of sleep and finding ways to release the tension in the body.

The body needs oxygen in order to function. If the pH levels are not normal, this also affects the air coming in which can also make one susceptible to cancer. This can be balanced by exercising.

Those who have busy schedules can try walking or running in the morning. Those who want to get pumped can work out in the gym. Studies show that physical activity releases endorphins making one feel happy and full of positive energy that can counter the negativity and prevent tumor growth.

How the Protein Diet Works

by Hamoon Arbabi

Protein is an essential nutrient necessary for maintaining good health. In its basic form protein consists of amino acid chains. Of the 22 amino acids that are capable of creating protein, 8 of these can only be obtained through a protein diet. Because these amino acids are utilized by the body a low protein diet can affect a host of very important functions. The building of our skin, hair, nails and internals organs all depend on amino acids and are maintained trough a protein diet.

Muscle tissue as well as new tissue growth need protein for their activities and can receive adequate levels with a protein diet. Protein intake from a high protein diet helps to transport nutrients and oxygen to our cells. The valuable protein diet aids and maintains antibody production.

The protein sources available to us for inclusion in a high protein diet include animal and plant based proteins. Animal proteins are found in meat, fish, cheese eggs and milk. Plant protein sources include soy, spirulina and organic whey protein diet products. While it is certainly important that we include a balanced intake of protein in our diet, many people eat too much animal based protein.

This type of high protein diet could have adverse health effects, which appear as disease and obesity. Many individuals who follow an excessively high animal based protein diet are overweight and often unhealthy. People on an animal based high protein diet often have elevated bad cholesterol levels.

Heart disease, strokes and osteoporosis are often the result of an excessive animal based high protein diet. It is therefore important that a well-balanced protein diet is maintained. By replacing part or all of our animal protein diet with plant proteins we can be assured that our body requirements are being met. A plant protein diet can help us to avoid the health problems associated with an excessive animal protein diet.

Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats when on a plant protein diet can improve health tremendously. This plant protein diet can also aid with weight control. A plant protein diet does away with the saturated fat accumulation thus limiting unwanted weight gain. Regular exercise combined with a high protein diet including plant proteins will be beneficial to individuals wanting a healthier lifestyle.

Plant proteins have many benefits of their own when included in the high protein diet. These protein diet improvements include the ability to raise good cholesterol levels while reducing bad cholesterol. This important protein diet function aids in preventing the arterial plaque build up, which could cause artery hardening and blockages.

Protein from plant sources like soy and spirulina, when included in a protein diet, are able to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks and heart disease. A vegetable high protein diet improves the ability to retain calcium in the body.

Because less calcium is excreted in the urine while on a plant protein diet, problems such as kidney stones are lessened. Therefore it is important to consider exactly which type of high protein diet you are currently following. Due to the high levels of saturated fats and additives found in red meat, a plant protein diet is superior to an animal protein diet and is the healthier alternative.

by Low Jeremy

Life is constantly providing us with new experiences and resources even when we are reduced to immobility. And without stressing too much on the adage health is wealth, it is very important to live by the rules of healthy living.

It is known to many that proper diet, regular exercise, and utmost discipline are the basic ingredients in achieving balanced and healthy living. But more often than not, people who are either obese of morbidly obese do not adhere to these guiding principles on how to achieve those weight loss goals and often experience severe results.

ALL ABOUT LOW FAT DIETS

Through the years, statistics continues to show that 95 percent of people who try traditional diets fail. These studies also show that improper dieting have caused miserable suffering to those have tried it because they underwent drastic food restriction and deprivation. Aside from the depression caused by failed diet and failure of short-term weight loss goal, these people have also developed chronic illnesses.

One of major reasons why people become obese is that they have high blood cholesterol levels due to fat intake. If you want to achieve your desired weight, make sure that you familiarize yourself first with fats. Basically, there are two major types of dietary fat—the saturated and unsaturated fat. Saturated fats may lead to the increase of cholesterol in the blood while eating unsaturated fats or oils can help decrease cholesterol levels. Fats are also categorized as “low fat” which has 20 to 30 percent of calories derived from fats and “very low fat” that has 0 to 19 percent of calories from fats.

Experts say that fat has more than twice the calories as the same amount of protein or carbohydrate this is why a good low fat diet can be helpful in the reduction of weight gain and lowering blood cholesterol as well. Over the years, health authorities and experts agree low fat diets are the best because these enable people to control over weight through lowered fat consumption.

The most typical low fat diets include the Ornish Diet, the Pritikin Diet, Hip and Thigh Diet, Scarsdale Diet, F-Plan Again Diet, Mayo Clinic Plan, Rice Diet, Weight Watchers Diet, Jenny Craig Diet, The 3-Hour Diet, and Anne Collins Diet Program that offer different low fat diets.

Here are some ways to eat less fat:

1. Try eating fewer fried foods. Instead of eating fried foods, opt for grilled, boiled, baked, poached, steamed or dry roasted foods.

2. Stop adding butter, lard, and margarine to food while preparing and cooking. Also, spare yourself from spreads.

3. Cut down on visible fat from meat.

4. Eat less fatty meat products like sausages, burgers, meat pies, and pasties.

5. Consume semi-skimmed or skimmed milk instead of drinking whole milk.

6. Try eating low-fat or reduced-fat varieties of cheeses.

7. Eat lesser high-fat foods like crisps, chocolates, cakes, pastry products, biscuits, and pizzas.

8. Drink low-fat or natural yogurts or creams.

Low Carb Diet Secrets - Research Proven

Many incorrectly liken the genesis of very low carbohydrate ketogenic diets (VLCKD) to the late Dr. Atkins. While Dr. Atkins played a seminal role in bringing VLCKD to the lime light in the later half of the 20st Century. VLCKD have been used for a long, with a long track record of safety and effectiveness (despite what the media or your local dietitian my try to tell you).

Dr. Atkins pasted away in 2003. Since then the use of VLCKD and carbohydrate restriction for weight loss and the prevention of cardiovascular disease has continued to increase in use and popularity. Much of this continued growth in low carb popularity can be attributed to the work of several (so called) renegade scientists that have chosen to follow what the scientific data says even if that means questioning long standing and accepted nutritional dogma.

Remember there are many different ways you can 'cut carbs'.

Last week, I was fortunate enough to spend a good deal of time with one of these scientists, Dr. Jeff Volek, as he was brought in by the Nutrition Department at Penn State to share his findings on carbohydrate restriction and metabolic syndrome. Here are some take ways points from Dr. Volek's talk.

-You lose more weight and gain more muscle when you combine a low carb diet and resistance training compared to just a low carb diet or just resistance training – there seems to be some additive effect.

-People on low carb diets can eat 3x the saturated fat compared to people on a low fat diet and still have lower levels of saturated fat in their blood.

-Calorie restriction has been touted as a way to slow/stop aging. You can impact the same biological markers by restricting carbohydrates (while NOT restricting calories).

-Often times when people in Dr. Volek's studies go on low carbohydrate diets they end up increasing their vegetable consumption (this is sad but I'm sure reflective of the American population's lack of vegetable consumption).

-Metabolic Syndrome is becoming a huge problem in the U.S. and worldwide; carbohydrate restriction attacks all the problem areas of metabolic syndrome more comprehensively than any drug or treatment available.

-The obesity problem in the U.S. is driven by uncontrolled insulin levels. The best way to control insulin is to control its most powerful stimulator – carbohydrates.

-Carbohydrates have traditionally been considered a macronutrient but in reality they are not essential for human function.

-The level of ketoisis achieved from carbohydrate restriction is completely different from the ketoacidosis that a diabetic may experience (ketosis from carbohydrate restriction is much much lower and within safe ranges).

Remember when embarking on your weight loss journey it is essential to reduce your carbohydrate intake. It is not necessary to go to ketogenic levels but restricting starchy carbohdyrates and decreasing your overall carb intake is what you need to do in order to maximize weight loss in the shortest amount of time.

The Low-Fat Diet - A Quick, Simple, and Healthy Weight Loss Program!

by Faviano Torres

The term low-fat diet makes one think of an eating plan where the dieter avoids cholesterol and saturated fat in order to steer clear of heart disease. But there are also some forms of fat which are necessary for good health, such as fatty acids that help the absorption of vitamins such as A, D, K and the like.

However, research has shown that a low-fat diet has a significant association to lower levels of female heart diseases and stroke. The more pressing concern for women, of course, is how a low-fat diet can help promote weight loss. To do this, it is important to lower the amount of calories you take in your body so it will be forced to use up the excess store of fat for energy and proper functioning. The ceiling for calories from fat that one should have is around a third of your calorie intake, according to the national guidelines. It has also been said that better results are produced when you only have around 20-30% of calories in your low-fat diet. Any less than this and your diet will be quite boring and might cause you to give up.

Because of this, the WLR or Weight Loss Resources have determined that moderate fat restriction levels should be at around 25-30 percent of calories that are from fat. But of course, the exact number of fat grams that one should have every day will be different from one person to another. Such will depend largely on your overall calorie intake as well as how receptive you are to the fat restriction guideline. While it may be quite difficult to stick to the exact amount of fact restriction each and every day, it is certainly okay to not be so rigid about it.

Now you want to have more energy, be Healthier, look Younger, lose weight, and cleanse your body, right?

by Rachel Archer

Are you interested in a healthy weight loss diet and don’t want to starve or do low calories? If so then I will help you out as I’ll be discussing the healthiest weight loss diet you can find. The diet is called calorie shifting and as you’ll see its incredibly effective and easy to do as well. Healthy weight loss can be achieved using this effective fat loss diet.

So it’s just another diet, why should I care?

Its simple actually, you should care for these reasons.

1. It’s easy to follow and continue.

2. Allows you to keep eating and actually drop some pounds while you’re at it.

3. It’s been proven to actually keep more weight off than any other diet when you come off the diet!

4. You actually burn more fat by eating, according to the guidelines of course.

Ok sounds interesting? How does it work?

To perform calorie shifting you need to follow a system of eating where you essentially confuse your metabolism so it is never quite sure when to stop burning fat. Its so effective because you are constantly changing what types of foods you eat and at which times of the day you eat them. You see when you eat the same foods everyday in the same routine even if they’re low calorie or low fat or any other common dieting routine you essentially reveal to your body what it is you eat on a daily basis and your body says “ok so I’ll increase your metabolism just enough at this point in the day and then shutdown so we can conserve those precious calories”.

Yes its true, unless you do something out of the ordinary your bodies first impression is to conserve whatever it is you eat. However if you eat carbs one day for breakfast then fat the next day and then protein the next etc, your body doesn’t know whats going on, but it does know that it needs to keep the metabolism up because the calories coming in are too diverse and at times to great to just sit idle. So your metabolism gets boosted, and this continues at all times of the day.

This sounds like it could get confusing to keep track of, but here’s the great news! There are calorie shifting software programs that do all the thinking for you. The exact food options available to you are displayed and you’ll know exactly what to eat at any time of the day without having to think at all!
